Times are tough everywhere right now and one local radiology clinic wanted to give back to the community they love.

As an essential service, Pureform Radiology on Airdrie's Main Street is still operating with limited hours and patients are able to attend exams. Clinic Relations Manager Mona McLaren says they decided to set up donation bins for the Airdrie Food Bank so when they call the patients to remind them of their appointments, they are advised that they are welcome to bring in food items.

McLaren says it's been successful so far and they've already sent a bin of food to the Food Bank.

"Any way we can help out," says McLaren, who adds they wanted to go further and come up with other ways to give back to the community.

"For the month of April we are trying to encourage our fellow neighbours to do a community cleanup," says McLaren. "Of course, they have to make sure that they're practicing social distancing, that they're doing it safely by wearing gloves and picking up litter safely."

McLaren encourages those who participate in the community cleanup to snap a picture and tag @Pureformradiology on Instagram and use #pureformpickup for a chance to win a prize. McLaren says every little bit helps. "If you think about it, if everyone just did one little bag of litter, think how much cleaner our communities would be."

And Pureform isn't stopping there either. They've also decided to use their distinctive blue and orange Pureform mobile to offer a free shuttle service for essential items.

"We recognize that there are a lot of immune-compromised or people just shut-in and are unable to get out to get their essentials like their groceries or their medicine," says McLaren. "We will pick up those items and deliver them to their doorstep."

Anyone who wants to take advantage of the service and arrange a delivery can call 587-747-6062.

McLaren says they simply want to help and assist the community in any way they can. "Together we're stronger. We put our heads together and we can accomplish great things. We will get through this."
