Airdronian Keagen Slaney and Josh Davies have made their respective team's pre-season rosters. Slaney with the Calgary Hitmen and Davies with the Portland Winterhawks.

The Hitmen have four pre-season games before the regular season starts, two of which they've already played over last weekend. On Friday, the Hitmen took on the Red Deer Rebels, losing by a score of  5-4. They had another game Saturday night in Edmonton against the Oil Kings which the Hitmen won by a score of 4-3. 

During the 2022-2023 season, Slaney played in 60 games, garnering 13 points, on five goals and eight assists from his position on defence.  Slaney is going into his final year of junior hockey as he is turning 20 years old.

This season he hopes to make the playoffs and make one final push for a WHL championship.

Josh Davies has had a busy summer spending time with the team that drafted him, the Florida Panthers with a couple of different camps.  He also joined a different WHL team, getting traded from the Swift Current Broncos to the Portland Winterhawks for his final junior season.

Davies has spent some time with the Winterhawks for their training camp. He will be heading back down to Florida for the Panther's rookie showcase which starts September 15.

This past weekend the Winterhawks had two pre-season games, one Saturday against the Spokane Chiefs, which they lost 3-2. They also had a game yesterday against the Seattle Thunderbirds which they won 3-2. 

During the 2022–23 season, Davies scored 20 goals and added 14 assists for 34 points, placing sixth in goals and eighth in points among all Broncos players.

Davies was originally taken by Swift Current in the third round, 54th overall, of the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft. Over the course of four seasons, he has 79 points in 149 games.

Davies was selected with the 186th overall pick in the 6th round in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers.
