It seems the more time that passes by, the stranger the fashion and beauty trends get. Are people running out of inspiration for new ideas? Or is the line between 'normal' and 'different' becoming increasingly blurred?

Let's take a look at the weirdest beauty trends of 2017.

Wavy eyebrows

Pictured above, this became a trend this year and in all honesty, it's kind of cool, but would I do that to my own eyebrows? Probably not. You'd do a double take if you saw someone walk by you with these wavy bad boys on their face. This trend didn't last too long and will most likely not be coming back. Maybe for Halloween.

Nose hair extensions

Yeah, these were actually a real thing. Fleeting and brief, but this trend failed (thank goodness). If you're wondering what exactly nose hair extensions are, people would take fake eyelashes and cut them up and glue them to the inside of both nostrils making it look like you're battling a bad case of very long nose hair. It's probably boggling you why this became a thing, but the fact that it's no longer 'in' just confirms that it was NOT a good luck.

Feathered eyebrows

Another eyebrow trend and this time, people would part their eyebrows horizontally across the middle and gel them up and downwards to mirror a feathered look. If you're a fan of the super bushy eyebrow then this look is for you. If you like your eyebrows 'on fleek' and avoid stray hairs like the plague, then please don't try this.

Fake freckles

Self-explanatory, the fake freckles are still quite popular and people use a light pencil liner to draw freckles on their nose and cheek. I can understand why people would want to do this; some consider freckles to be cute, or some might want to enhance their natural freckles which might've disappeared during the winter months. If it makes you more comfortable in your own skin, go for it.

Glitter roots

The glitter roots are just that. Colourful glitter painted or sprayed over the part in your hairstyle. This trend is by no means subtle and definitely more of a festive or theme-appropriate hairstyle. Or maybe you just want to spice up your look and stand out. If you're a lover of all things retro, this trend brings back some serious 80s vibes.

Christmas beards

The Christmas beard is a holiday trend where some men with beards will literally decorate their beards as if they were decorating a Christmas tree. Mini decorative ornaments, sparkly dye or glitter, tinsel, and even mini lights. I can't see this being an everyday trend - maybe something you'd wear to a Christmas party. If someone casually wore decorations on their beard any other time of the year they would one hundred per cent get some looks.

"Excuse me sir, is that mistletoe hanging from your beard?"
