After being released from the Vancouver Giants recently, Airdrie's Taden Rattie has found a new home in Prince George.

The 19 year old explains what happened in his quick turnaround in the Western Hockey League.

"They (Giants) happened to drop me because they had imports from, I think, Russia and Belarus. I just happened to be the odd man out I guess and then in the next few days, Prince George picked me up."

Rattie says he's had a great time with the Cougars, getting to know the coaching staff and hs fellow teammates, but he knows he still has to win a place on the team.

"There's no guarantees in Hockey. Still got to try out for the team even though I've been in the league for two years. I got to keep pushing and just have my end goal of making that final roster."

The former Airdrie Lightning Midget player has been through many teams in his junior career, from the Whitecourt Wolverines of the AJHL to the Red Deer Rebels, who hosted the Memorial Cup in 2016.

Rattie says he couldn't have made it through all these years in the WHL without the support of his family in Airdrie.

"They've been supporting me no matter where I've gone and coming to visit me in Vancouver and Prince George and Red Deer. I got to give it out to them because they support me a lot."

Rattie and the Cougars will take on the Kamloops Blazers on Friday night (September 15th).
