“This was the Amazing Promise Scholarship. It’s for kids that are just kind of getting into the arts and doing things in Airdrie.”

Funk says the scholarship will go a long way as she prepares to enter post-secondary this fall.

“I’m going into college starting in September for Costume Cutting and Construction. I’ve done a movie costume recently for Mitchell George and I’ve also worked with Make Fashion so I’m working with them again this year and that’s wearable tech through Calgary.”

The scholarship is a great way to honour young people who make art a part of their life and Funk has this piece of advice for other aspiring artists like her.

“I would say, take whatever people hand to you. There are so many opportunities in Alberta, Airdrie especially and lots of people who really want to support you. Just accept that support when they give it to you.”
