A bizarre story about a local bar and stolen plants got a happy ending recently.

On Tuesday, the Balzac Craft Brewing Company in Cooperstowne Promenade posted to Facebook after discovering several outdoor plant pots were stolen in broad daylight.

"One of our employees said he thought they were there in the morning, then when he went out to water them in the evening, they were gone," said co-owner Stew Ward. "The reaction was 'really? Are you kidding me?"

The post was shared dozens of times as many in the community struggled to understand why a theft like this even happened.

Thankfully, Save-on-Foods, which sits in the same complex heard about the stolen plants and decided to step in.

"A total surprise to me," said Ward. "They walk in with two shopping carts full of plants yesterday. This is outstanding but really not necessary."

The plants are used to support the rope that's used as a border for the bar's extended patio which reaches into the adjacent patio.

Ward said it's acts of kindness like this that show how connected the businesses are in Cooperstowne and that the generosity of the community is still alive.
