A four-year-old Airdrie boy has died after a drowning incident in the Kings Heights neighbourhood earlier this month.

"Airdrie RCMP and EMS empathize with the family, bystanders, and community in this tragic loss of life," a police release stated.

The child had previously been in the hospital in critical condition after having been found in a pond by bystanders in medical distress on Tuesday, October 3.

According to a previous RCMP media release, Airdrie RCMP were called to Kings Heights on October 3 at approximately 6:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a missing child. Shortly after receiving this call, RCMP received a call of a child found in medical distress.

"Upon arrival, it was discovered that bystanders had removed the child from a neighbourhood pond and administered medical care until EMS arrived. EMS transported the child via ground ambulance to a Calgary hospital."

A GoFundMe campaign, set up on Tuesday, October 17 confirmed the tragic news of the boy's passing.

"...He was taken to the Children’s Hospital in critical condition where he remained in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit under the watch and care of the incredible doctors and nurses, fighting for his precious life. [He] has fought hard, lost his fight, and passed on to heaven, on Sunday, Oct 15, 2023. Life taken way too soon," the GoFundMe campaign stated.

The fundraiser has amassed over $9,000.
