At the meeting on November 7, Airdrie City Council endorsed the recommendation of the Community Services Advisory Board to support a bid package for the 2014 Alberta Summer Games. Kim Harris from the City says Council's blessing allows them to move ahead.

Harris talked about what's next for the bid committee.

Kim estimates a three to five million dollar spin-off for Airdrie from these Games alone, saying what we need to do is fill sports fields and venues when the site selection committee arrives - to show our community support.

The Alberta Summer Games is a multi-sport festival held every two years for athletes between the ages of 11 and 17. The games attract close to 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials from around the province.
