Airdrie Councillor Tina Petrow has been appointed to two different projects through her role with Alberta Municipalities.

Within Alberta Municipalities, Petrow is the Director for Cities up to 500,000. She will be their representative on two different provincial projects, the Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) Steering Committee and the Senior's Lodge Review Panel.

While almost all meetings are currently confidential, Petrow was able to share what is discussed when it comes to the review panel.

"We talked about the resident experience in the lodge, the operational policies, the funding models from the province, lodge modernization and capital funding."

From the information received from the panel, the province will then make decisions on what the lodge experience and policy should look like going forward.

Airdrie has a few different senior lodges, those include Abrio Place Lodge and Diamond Jubilee Manor and Suites both with the Rocky View Foundation.

"We just want to make sure that everyone's having their best quality of life in those types of facilities across the province."

When it comes to FCSS, Airdrie does have an office, according to Petrow.

"We have funding that goes out to many of our non-profits for prevention-based programs, that's really what FCSS is."

Through the steering committee, they can discuss and try to steer some of the provincial prevention priorities based on feedback from communities and their members.

"From organizations within Airdrie, we hear mixed feedback about how some things work really well, but other things need some improvement. Just making sure that we can address all of those things and make it a very streamlined process to make sure the funding is getting through to the people is very important."

According to Petrow, these appointments allow her to not only bring Airdrie's voice to the table but also multiple other municipalities within Alberta Municipalities.

Petrow also mentioned she is the alternate on another committee for Alberta Municipalities, the Alberta EMS Provincial Advisory Committee.
