Airdronian Aaron Sluchinski and his curling team have had a busy season going to the top curling events.

So far this year, they have participated in two Grand Slam Curling events, the HearingLife Tour Challenge and the KIOTI National. In both events, they went 2-2 narrowly missing the playoffs.

Sluchinski, the skip of the team has Jeremy Harty as the third, Kerr Drummond as the second and Dylan Webster as the lead. Sluchinski mentioned he is proud of how his team has performed this year.

"We are meeting our goals of being a top 16 team men's team in the world, now we just have to hold our spot.

Currently, Sluchinski and his team are ranked 14th in the world when it comes to men's curling. In the Canadian rankings, they are ranked 5th.

The next Grand Slam Event they will be participating in is the WFG Masters, which takes place December 12-17 in Saskatoon Saskatchewan.

"We're learning a lot each time we play these big-name teams, just got to get a little better at those drawn to the buttons so we can slide into the playoffs."

Sluchinski also played in the 2023 PointsBet Invitational. Unfortunately, they lost their first matchup to Team McEwen and were knocked out of the event.

The next event for the team is the Nufloors Curling Classic in Penticton BC, Sluchinski mentioned most of the teams there will be Grand Slam Curling teams.

"This season and next season are the two seasons that are applicable for qualifying for the Olympic trials as well. So that's being near the top of Canada's rankings for the next two seasons is a priority for sure."

The end goal of this season is to maintain the top 16 rankings in the world while also making it to the 2024 Montana’s Brier.
