Multiple Airdronians participated in this year’s Alberta Cup, which aids in the identification and selection of potential players for Hockey Alberta’s Team Alberta Program. 

With there being a handful of different teams to be placed into, Airdronians Wyatt Psarczyk (defensemen) Chase Kunn (defensemen), Mitchell Decoste (Defensemen), Noah Degenstein (forward), and Cruz Chase (goalie) were split up between two teams: Alberta Black and Alberta Blue.  

On Alberta Black was Wyatt Psarczyk, Chase Kunn and Mitchell Decoste.  

Noah Degenstein and Cruz Chase were on Alberta Blue. 

Alberta Black finished on top of the event with three wins and two ties, going unbeaten. Psarczyk had a total of two points through the five games played and had one goal and one assist. Kunn had a total of three points, all being assists. Decoste had a total of three points, two being goals and one being an assist. 

Alberta Blue finished fourth with two wins and three losses. Degenstein finished with four points, splitting them evenly between goals and assists while goaltender Cruz Chase played in a total of three games with a 1-1 record. Out of the 105 shots he faced, he was able to save 95. 

The Alberta Cup began in 1986 as a program for U18 hockey players, running until 1988. It went on hiatus until 1993 when it re-emerged as a U15-level competition.
