The 9th annual Mayor's Leadership Prayer Breakfast is making its return to the Town and Country Centre on May 3.

Peter Brown, the Mayor of Airdrie, extends an invitation to the community for the annual event, which includes a morning meal, motivational presentations from prominent speakers, and participation in a warm and inclusive community gathering.

This year's funds raised will go towards Airdrie's Meals on Wheels, while last year's funds went towards the Airdrie and District Victim's Assistance Society (ADVAS), and the event raised $7,300.

Brown went on to talk about how this event became a thing in Airdrie.

"I went to my first Mayor's Leadership Prayer Breakfast at the City of Calgary and I left there inspired. I phoned some friends of mine, Martin and Margo Durocher and I said, why can't we do this in Airdrie? From there, we're into our ninth year, it's been a great success. We always have a full house."

This year's speaker at the event is Sam Kolias, Boardwalk Communities CEO.

"I heard him in Calgary a number of years ago, he has a great message and I really feel like he's gonna inspire a lot of us with his words."

The Airdrie Mayor did mention even though this may be a religious event, your religious beliefs do not matter.

"Whatever your religious background is, or whether you're even religious, it doesn't matter. Lots of people just come to experience the connectivity of their community. And you know, they get an opportunity to shake hands with a lot of different leaders in the community."

Brown finished off by saying it's just a great way to start your day.
