Airdrie Swimmer, Alex Sharpe, recently came back from a World Para-Swimming Series meet in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The member of the Nose Creek Swim Association travelled to Denmark for the meet last week along with coach Alexx Diep.

Sharpe said that just being in Denmark and Europe was one of the greatest parts of the trip.

"Being in Denmark was pretty cool. It was so different from anywhere that I've ever been before and I think that really just added to the experience of the swimming. I loved racing the Europeans because I've never raced them before and I think just being in Europe for the first time just added to the experience."

As for the competition itself, Sharpe was impressed with his performance.

"I went three out of four personal bests. The competition was so good there that I was kind of mid-twenties, high twenties, low thirties for almost all of my races."

Now that's he's back in Airdrie, Sharpe's schedule doesn't get any lighter but he said he's looking forward to what's ahead.

"I go to Edmonton in a couple weeks to swim at provincials. In about a month, I'm in Hawaii for a training camp with my club, then I'm in Victoria for western championships and then I'm in Montreal for a training camp."

The Spring Championships for Swim Alberta go from March 15th to 18th at the Kinsmen Sports Centre in Edmonton.
