Despite being knocked out of the NHL Playoffs, Aaron Dell has no regrets on his season.

The Airdrie goalie, who played backup for the San Jose Sharks, saw his season come to early end after a game six loss to Edmonton on Saturday (April 22nd).

Dell says it was a tough season for the team, but they're already looking forward to next year.

"There were some injuries at some bad times and things like that. I think that all factored into it so I think the guys are kind of excited to get started for next year but still disappointed in how things ended."

Both San Jose and Edmonton brought quite the playoff atmosphere for Dell who had to keep himself focused in case starter Martin Jones went down.

"You got to stay mentally in the game as well as keep your body warmed up. You don't want to be just sitting there all game if you have to potentially go in."

Despite the playoff loss there was a big moment for Dell this season.  He was nominated by his team for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award is given to the league player who best demonstrates perseverance throughout the season. Dell knows he's gone through a lot in his hockey career but was still surprised at the nomination.

"It was a huge honour to be recognized by my teammates and the staff there. There's a lot of guys that have gone through a bunch of things to get where they are today. I'm just honoured to be considered."

Unfortunately Dell wasn't one of the three finalists named by the NHL but is still grateful for the recognition.
