Yesterday (April 24th) members of the Canada 150 Committee and Airdrie City Council met at the Nose Creek Valley Museum to give their submissions to the 150 Time Capsule.

Melanie Taylor from the Committee explained the idea behind building this capsule in the first place.

“We wanted a really great way to capture how it felt to be in Airdrie for the 150. That’s why we're doing the time capsule as it will be part of this year’s celebration to be able to really bring together with the capsule itself, all the great ways we celebrated as a community.”

The group brought their submissions to put in the capsule and also had a chance to look at the submissions so far.

“We’ve everything from letters and stories about things that happened,” said Taylor. “Mementos from previous big events, the Air Show and the Canada Day parade and the T-Shirts that were designed specifically for that event.”

Taylor hopes that more will bring their items to the Time Capsule before May 1st. After that time, the capsule will be sealed and will not reopen until July 2067, in time for Canada’s 200th Celebration.
