Snow-laden Alberta golf courses didn't stop the seven members of Team Alberta who teed it up this weekend at a golf specific training camp in Sherwood Park, and a golfer from Airdrie was among their numbers.

24-year-old Allie Price took part, along with six other members of Team Alberta, preparing for the 2018 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games to be held July 31st through August 4th in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Price was joined at the camp by another golfer from the area, Paul Oldridge of Cochrane.  The rest of the team is made up of Emma Bittorf from Strathmore, Josh Engel of Calgary, Zachary Fox from Edmonton, Red Deer's Toryn Holden and Greg Demchuk from St. Paul.

Price has been playing golf for nine years now and has been taking part in the Special Olympics for seven years.  She said, "Team Alberta means a lot to me because I am excited about being a part of the team and supporting all of the athletes.  I am practicing with my other golf teammates, and making new friends and also practicing in the winter with my caddie, daddy."

The training camp was the first time that all seven members of Team Alberta had a chance to come together with their head coach Bill McLaren.

Team Alberta will face 40 golfers from across Canada at the Summer Games.

The camp was held at the Golf Den Lounge and Eatery in Sherwood Park.
