It was a big night of playoff basketball yesterday (February 27th) as the Senior Varsity teams took the court in the RVS quarterfinals.

Senior Boys

The W.H. Croxford Cavaliers hoped to cap off a tremendous season as they played the Chestermere Lakers. The Cavaliers fought hard but lost traction in the home stretch as the Lakers took the game 75-55.

It was a different story at Bert Church High School where the Chargers showed no mercy, beating the Springbank Phoenix 103-39.

Head Coach Michael Sera says he was impressed with the team's performance saying that the intensity of the defence helped fuel the offensive production.

The Chargers move on to the Semi-Finals where they'll take on their rivals the George Mac Mustangs, while Chestermere will face the Cochrane Cobras.

Senior Girls

Three Airdrie teams were in action last night in the closest games of the playoffs so far.

In a battle of Airdrie, the Bert Church Chargers came away with a narrow victory over the Croxford Cavaliers 46-40.

George McDougall had an even closer match as they took on the Springbank Phoenix. The Mustangs had the lead in the final seconds of the game before the Phoenix rose to score on a last-second layup to take the game, 47-46.

In the semifinals, which begin tomorrow (March 1st), the Bert Church Chargers face the Cochrane Cobras while Springbank battles the Chestermere Lakers.
