Fifteen seconds after the whistle blew, the Thunder already had the puck in the net and their momentum grew from there.

The Airdrie Thunder skated out onto the ice at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex on Friday to face off against the High River Flyers.

Taking a big lead early on, the Thunder pulled ahead 4-1 in the first period, maintaining their lead to a 7-2 finish.

Leading the scoring, Clay Murray netted three of the Thunder's goals.

Murray was the top scorer in the Heritage Junior Hockey League in the 2015/2016 season and is already well on his way to defending that title.

The Thunder aren't done for the weekend, however, as they face off against the Okotoks Bisons on home ice Saturday, October 8.

Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
