The U15 AAA Airdrie Xtreme of the Alberta Elite Hockey League are 2-0 to start out their season. They are hoping to keep the trend going, to repeat last year's performance and become provincial champions once again.

The season started last Saturday (September 30) with a home opener against the Lethbridge Val Matteoti Golden Hawks. It was a close match but, the Xtreme came out on top 3-2.

Their second game was Sunday (October 1) on the road against the Calgary Northstars. The Xtreme were able to run away with the game to win it 5-2.

"It's nice to see things coming together and then the guys buy in, it's been good so far," stated head coach of the Xtreme Alec Miller.

He went on to say it was great to see all the fans come out to support the team and that is what has helped them be so successful.

"I think the boys really appreciate having the crowd on our side. We'd like to continue to have that all year."

Teams who take on the Xtreme this season can expect an aggressive game plan, according to Miller.

"We're able to capitalize on scoring opportunities, and really shut down the opponent's opportunities at the same time. We did all those little things, and it led to success last weekend."

The team is off for Thanksgiving but will utilize the break by spending some time together to do some bonding, in nature.

"We're going to Drumheller for a little team hike."

The next scheduled game is at home on October 13 against the Red Deer Rebels at the Ron Ebbesen Arena, the puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
