Alberta Pound and Rescue Centre (APARC) in Airdrie is about to host its annual book sale to raise funds for the shelter itself.
The Airdrie APARC location officially opened its doors in the spring of 2020 and continues to rescue stray animals around the city as well as reunite lost pets with their owners.
This isn't the first year they've hosted a book sale fundraiser and Sam Sandidge, the Manager of Airdrie APARC, says they're still looking for book donations from the community to put into the sale.
To donate a book for the sale, you can stop by the shelter at 2 East Lake Way in Airdrie. They're open from 10 to 6 on weekdays with a donation box outside for those who stop by after hours.
The fundraising portion of the book sale sees all the proceeds going directly back to the shelter, mostly for medical expenses. Sandidge says the funds will go towards spaying and neutering animals, as well as helping the shelter in a couple of specific cases, such as Bucko the dog who needs a potentially cancerous growth removed.
Prices for the books on sale will be anywhere from 25 cents for a kid's book to $2 for a hardcover.
The APARC fundraising book sale is on May 27, 28, and 29 from 10 am to 6 pm.
