Rocky View County Fire Services issued a fire advisory for both East and West Rocky View County on Thursday.

"This advisory represents a moderate fire risk and will remain in effect as long as conditions remain," a release stated.

During a fire advisory, all burning and fireworks permits are suspended, and burning is banned, with the following exceptions:

• Indoor household fireplaces
• Incinerators (for farm and acreage use)
• Burning barrels
• Camp stoves (properly attended)
• Barbecues (charcoal briquettes, propane, or natural gas)
• Wood pellet grills
• Propane/natural gas fire pit
• Recreational campfires in an approved burn pit
• Chimeneas
• Fires contained within approved facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreational areas
• Oil well flaring (must register with central fire dispatch at 403-264-1022)

Earlier this week, a fire restriction was enacted in Mountain View County. The fire restriction is county-wide due to current and forecasted conditions.

"This restriction will remain in place until further notice," Mountain View County officials stated.

During a fire restriction all outdoor fires, as defined by the County’s Fire Bylaw, must be extinguished. Lighting any outdoor fire is also prohibited.

"This includes open fires, fireworks, recreational fires not contained in acceptable fire pits, and fires that have previously received a Fire Permit."

However, burning barrels, acceptable fire pits, and acceptable outdoor fireplaces, as well a barbecues, and household fireplaces are permitted, as well as AER (Alberta Energy Regulator) flaring.

The County notes that all current fire permits and fireworks permits are cancelled.

"No new permits will be issued until the Fire Restriction is lifted."

The City of Airdrie does not have any fire advisories, restrictions or bans in place for the time being.
