An earlier collision in Airdrie at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and 8 Street has been cleared. However, motorists are reminded that winter driving conditions remain in effect.

According to Alberta Mounties, police were kept busy yesterday responding to collisions across the province.

"Police report that on the QE II between Edmonton and Calgary, RCMP responded to 52 collisions three resulting in injuries. Additional serious collisions have been reported throughout the province," police stated.

With the snow continuing to fall, RCMP expects poor driving conditions to continue, adding that if you do not have to travel; stay home.

"If you must travel, RCMP want to advise motorists to use extreme caution, slow down and maintain an increased distance between yourself and other drivers."

Road conditions on the QEII towards Calgary have been reported to be partly covered in snow, with black ice and icy sections.

Airdrie's local forecast is predicting upwards of four more centimetres to accumulate throughout the day, with light snow continuing Thursday night. Friday will also see snow, while the weekend will see a chance of flurries and snow on Saturday evening.
