The "Raise The Rink" Golf Tournament, held last week at Woodside Golf Course, did more than just raise funds.

"We were just north of $35,000", reports Jack Lumley, chairman of the Airdrie Regional Recreation Enhancement Society (ARRES). "Our goal wasn't raising any extreme amount of money, The day was designed to get the awareness out to the community of what we're trying to do."

Lumley says that the $35,000 will help the cause, but they need to do more to raise the almost $4 Million dollars though business and community support. A sponsorship program, which already has some takers, is expected to be announced by ARRES soon, which should see a bulk of the funds raised.

The funds raised will go towards building Phase III at Genesis Place, which will include two NHL sized ice surfaces, seating available for 250 spectators per rink, and multiple conference rooms and foyer area for various events.
