Cochrane RCMP have arrested and charged four people in connection with a fire that occurred back on August 21.  The fire totally destroyed the Chief Chiniki Restaurant and gas bar.  The restaurant was a very popular destination for local residents as well as travelers on the Trans Canada highway. Damage has been estimated at 1.1 million dollars.
 
The four males, one adult and three youths, are all residents of the Stoney First Nation. All have been charged with Arson under Section 434 of the Criminal Code.
 
The identity of the adult male, age 20, will not be released as it may lead to the identity of the three youths, two of whom are 16. The third is only 13.
 
The accused all have upcoming court dates. One will appear in court in Calgary on Friday, November 23, while the remaining three will appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Tuesday, November 27, and Thursday, November 29.
