The Alberta Scotties are underway, but it was a rough start for Airdrie's Team Bakker, led by skip Glenys Bakker.

The team from the Airdrie Curling Club found themselves on the wrong end of a 9-6 score against Team Sweeting from Edmonton. It was a rude ending to day one on Wednesday, but Thursday is a new day, and another chance for Bakker and her team to qualify for the spot as Alberta's representative at this years Scott's Tournament of Hearts in the tournament's B Event.

Day two wont be any easier, as they're paired up against Cheryl Bernard, and her team, who finished the 2010 Olympics, representing Canada, with a Silver medal finish. They'll throw their first rock at 2 in the afternoon Thursday.

Only four qualifiers, one from the A Event, one from the B Event, and two from the C Event, will face off for the provincial win, and the Team Alberta title.
