On Friday, November 4, around 5:30 pm., members of the Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and other enforcement agencies took a search warrant to a residence on Channelside Way in the city.  806 marijuana plants were located, valued at $1,007,500. The grow-op covered all three floors of the residence with an on-site drying room located upstairs, as well as two hidden rooms within the home. There was significant damage to the entire residence with water and ventilation running through walls and floors. Police had to wait for a while prior to seizing property and plants from the home as the carbon dioxide levels were abnormally high.

51 year old Phi Qui LY, of Calgary, has been charged with with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Production of  Marijuana, Theft of power, Theft of water and Possession of Proceeds of Crime under $5000.00. He is set to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court, November 17.

Police would like to thank the public in alerting them to the grow operation and encourage residents to continue to contact police with any suspicious activity.
