Airdrie's Brandon Machado said goodbye to the Foothills Bisons on January 24 as he headed east to join the Saskatoon Blades of the WHL.

Bisons' GM Wayne Henson says the team is proud of Machado, who joined the Bison early this season after a brief stint with the Blades.

"It's great news for the team. Brandon's been the consumate teammate for us since the year started when he got sent back."

Henson said Machado maintained a great attitude over the course of the season, and deserves the opportunity to play at the next level

You know, that can go one of two ways when guys get sent back, but he came in with the absolute positive attitude and he's worked his butt off and had a great season and earned the right to go up there and spend some time and find out what it's all about."

Henson says the team will miss Macado, but is confident they'll adjust.

"Some other guys are going to get a chance to step up. You know, this team is based on development and any time anybody goes out of the lineup, when you have as much skill and talent as we do on our team, guys are gone quite a bit."
