High School students from Airdrie’s Building Futures program are doing what they can to help Ryan Straschnitzki and his family.

Anna Brown from George McDougall High School explains what they’re doing.

“We got together and organized a bottle drive with Joel from the Airdrie Bottle Depot. We are just bringing down our bottles and any donations down there to help support the family.”

The students in the program wanted to hold this drive to help the family as Ryan’s sister is in the program this year.

The drive only started on Wednesday but already the response has been tremendous.

“It’s been crazy, a lot of people on social media have been putting it all over,” says Brown, “I think it’s spread a little bit more than we expected. It’s really cool to see how everyone connects so quickly.”

The drive will close at the end of day Sunday and Brown said they can use all the support they can get.

“Any donations whatsoever just bring it down to the bottle depot and there’s a bin there for the bottle donations and a little thing where you can put bottle receipts or cash donations.”
