Local residents with a love of baking are being asked to show off their skills for the ultimate Canadian baking event.

The Great Canadian Baking Show will be coming to Calgary and will be hosting an open call at the Hyatt Regency on February 13.

The open call is being held for the upcoming 8th season of the Canadian reality show, which will begin filming in May.

Residents who are interested in attending will be required to be interviewed and to bring one of their signature baked items, which will have the bakers judged in a tasting event and potentially qualify them for further casting challenges.

Should residents make it past the open call, they will be asked to attend a Bake-Along, which is a virtual casting exercise on Zoom.

Residents who make it onto the show will have to attend filming in Toronto, which will take place from mid-May till the end of June, as well as train with 16 challenging recipes.

Those who are interested in trying out for the show are encouraged to sign up for the open house here.
