There were reports that a collision occurred just after noon near the Airdrie Public Library's main entrance off Main Street but has since been cleared.

According to reports, the entrance was blocked off by a vehicle that may have collided with heavy machinery equipment, possibly a backhoe. There was no word on injuries.

Lane closures and construction crews are in the area due to the construction work at the location of the new public library and multi-use facility.

Motorists are reminded that two southbound lanes will be closed to accommodate construction activities on Friday and Saturday. The lanes will be closed just north of the entrance to the facility to Ridgegate Way. Because of this closure, the left northbound lane will turn into a southbound lane, for traffic.
