The completion date has been set for the 40th Avenue Overpass and its sooner rather than later.

Airdronians will be able to drive on the new overpass by 7 a.m. on October 13.

Adam Carroll, Project Manager in the Capital Projects Office with the City of Airdrie stated they are currently on schedule even though it is weather-dependent.

"We are currently doing the paving, line painting, getting traffic signals ready and street lights ready to go."

Carroll is very thankful to the drivers who have been stuck in construction on the QEII, for being patient due to the 40th Avenue Overpass over the past two years.

"We'll have the speed on the QEII backup to the standard 110 kilometres an hour, sometime right after the grand opening."

This is assuming, according to Carroll, that all of the work on the QEII is done and ready to go for the opening.

Carroll finished off by saying so far, they have not seen any major setbacks with the project which is something he is very grateful for.
