People in Airdrie who need to be assessed for COVID-19 will no longer need to drive to Calgary to have the testing done.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has opened a fast-track assessment centre in Airdrie, making it the sixth location in the AHS Calgary Zone.

In an emailed statement to Discover Airdri, AHS Story Hub Creative Lead Francis Silvaggio said the Airdrie assessment centre opened on April 24th and will ramp up to a daily capacity of 200 tests/swabs per day.

As with all of the fast-track assessment centres, the Airdrie facility will be by appointment only.  The centres are not for walk-up assessments and the location of the centre will not be made known.  Individuals who complete the online assessment tool that can be found at albertahealthservices.ca and are deemed appropriate for testing will be referred to an assessment centre within the Calgary Zone.

The facility will operate seven days a week but Silvaggio reiterates that testing is by appointment only.

Since March 6th, the AHS Calgary Zone has completed COVID-19 testing on over 40,000 residents at the five assessment centres that have been operating.
