Another day, another drop in active COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and ICU patients in the province.

Today (June 11) even fewer new cases were reported than yesterday when there were 178.  170 new cases were identified which, when combined with recoveries, lowered the active case count by another 281 to 3,529.

6,682 tests were done in Alberta bringing our daily positivity rate to just over 2.5 percent, the lowest it's been since October 23rd, 2020.

Ten fewer people are in hospital with the virus as that number dropped below 300 and now sits at 296.  Patients fighting  COVID-19 in intensive care units also fell by two to 79.

Sadly, another three people in the province lost their battle against COVID-19.   A total of 2,265 Albertans have died from this terrible illness.

Airdrie's steady decline in active cases stalled a bit today as one more was reported for a total of 56.  In Rocky View County active cases continued to lessen with now just 30 reported down from 33 the previous day.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw who usually does the daily update on COVID-19 in person is away for the next week so we won't hear her view on the progress being made by Alberta.  However, the government will continue to release daily figures through the weekend and all of next week.
