The COVID-19 numbers for Alberta are, very slowly, starting to head in the right direction with nearly 67,000 more doses of vaccines administered today (May 14) and active cases falling by nearly 1,000.  

After the province administered an additional 66,876 immunizations on Thursday, the provincial total stood at 2,086,589.  Almost 40 percent of people in the province have now received their first vaccine dose.

1,433 new cases were reported in Alberta today, one of the lowest totals in weeks.  Active cases dropped by 983 to 23,873.

The number of people being treated in hospital for the virus also fell again by nine today to 713.  People in the ICU remained unchanged from yesterday at 177.

Five more Albertans have died from COVID-19. 

The province also identified 399 variants of concern from among the 1,433 new cases.

After going up by one active case yesterday, Airdrie fell by one today making the total 646.  Four fewer cases were reported in Rocky View County with 290.
