It's a sport that continues to grow in Crossfield and one team is winning big.

The Crossfield Cardinals Peewee 1 team is unbeaten after 4 games, including a big 20-17 win on Tuesday (June 6th)

Coach Al Meunier says the game was close, but his team knew how to win it.

"There was lots of walks early on in the game. When they did start to throw strikes we put the bat on the ball and we scored some runs that way too."

Meunier says the sport of baseball has grown more popular in Crossfield as more families want to develop skills outside of more common sports in the community.

"Some parents are realizing that spring hockey is not always the way to go. There's more to life than just hockey so a little baseball here and there definitely helps the kids develop to be involved in more sports than just one."

Of course for the Cardinals, the first rule of the game is having fun as all kids get a chance to play.

"We play everybody, every kids get the bat. We try to rotate so that kids get to play every position."

The Peewee 1 squad will face Didsbury on June 13th.
