After asking residents to vote for their favourite online, Crossfield Town Council has approved the new town flag design that got the most votes.

Last fall, council decided they needed to update the flag, originally created in 1989, to help get residents excited about events and projects in town.

Mayor Nathan Anderson says the new design is perfect for the town just north of Airdrie.

He said making a decision on the new flag wasn't a difficult one and was eager to extol its virtues.

Additionally, the mayor likes the fact the flag features town icon Pete Knight, and with both the Crossfield rodeo and arena being named after him, not to forget a street in his memory, Anderson says it's nice to pay tribute to Knight as a historical figure and a common theme for the town.
