The San Jose Sharks and goalie Aaron Dell, a native of Airdrie, nearly pulled off a Hollywood ending in their playoff series against the Golden Knights.

Unfortunately for Dell the game was being played in the other entertainment capital, Las Vegas, and the Sharks comeback fell just short as the Golden Knights scored a 5 - 3 win and took a three games to two lead in the NHL playoff series.

Dell came into the game in relief of starter Martin Jones with 11:24 left in the third period after the Knights had made it 4 - 0 and looked to be in the driver's seat.

Dell's appearance may have inspired the Sharks who scored three goals in just over six minutes to draw to within a goal with 4:16 to play.

That was as close as the Sharks came as Vegas scored into the vacated San Jose net with 1:21 left to play to secure the win.  Dell stopped the six shots he faced.

The series goes back to San Jose for game six Sunday night.

Tampa Bay now leads Boston three games to one after a 4 - 3 win in overtime by the Lightning.

Tonight the Winnipeg Jets are in Nashville with the series deadlocked at two games each and Washington and Pittsburgh are in the same position as they prepare for game five tonight in Washington.
