Hard work has finally paid of for Airdrie's Aaron Dell.

After re-signing with the San Jose Sharks this off-season, Dell has officially earned a roster spot as an NHL goaltender.

The 27-year-old will play alongside starting goaltender Martin Jones as a backup. He was able to learn from Jones during his time on the road with the Sharks in last year's Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Dell got the spot after sending fellow net-minder Troy Grosenick down to the American Hockey League (AHL).

Last season, Dell spent the majority of the year with the Sharks affiliated San Jose Barricuda in the AHL.
