There will be some crashing and bashing this weekend in Crossfield, and all for a good cause.

The Crossfield Elks will be holding its annual Demolition Derby at the Rodeo Grounds on Aug 28.

The derby is a fundraiser for the local non-profit which provides funds to other groups and causes within the community.

"We're a non-profit organization and all the money that we raised through all of our fundraising events and stuff goes back into the community," said Brandt Selent with the Crossfield Elks. "We donate to minor sports, to the school, to the band program and people who need a helping hand here and there."

Selent added there will be no shortage of destruction once the event starts at 3:00 p.m.

"You can expect a lot of cars crashing into each other. Maybe, if we're lucky, a couple of cars rolling over. We get a McIntyre Crane out every year and they lift a car a couple of hundred feet and drop it from way up there, which is pretty cool to see too."

People willing to register their vehicles are asked to arrive at the grounds at 11:00 a.m. Gates open for spectators at 2:00 p.m.
