The Mountainview Colts are getting ready for the 2017-2018 season, and they once again have the finals in their sight.

Head Coach Michael Galye says this year, the team will look a bit different as many of their top performers from last year have graduated.

"We're excited about it. Definitely going to be kind of a new face to the team as far as players go, it's kind of a rebuild season. We've had the same guys on the team now for the last four or five years."

The Colts have been in the Heritage Junior Hockey League Finals the last two seasons, winning it all in 2016 and losing to Red Deer in 2017.

Galye says that part of the success for the team is their desire to grow local talent.

"Most of our team is made up of kids that have played in the minor hockey system. Crossfield, Carstairs, Didsbury, Olds, Cremona, that whole area. A lot of kids that are rural kids."

The team has been a part of the Didsbury and Mountain View County for over 25 years and Galye says it means a lot to the community.

"It's meant a lot. It gives some people a chance to get out and watch some good hockey, support the community It's a good opportunity for this team."

The Colts will begin their main camp on September 1st and play their first exhibition game against Stettler on September 8th.
