Re-mediation of soil on the former-Domtar site in Cochrane located adjacent to Griffin Road could be completed by November, according to the town supervisor.

Rick Deans, senior manager of infrastructure services, said 95 per cent of the impacted soil has been excavated and is fully reclaimed or waiting for final test results to be returned to use.  He said the gravel has been re-mediated to the point that it can be used in gravel aggregate or asphalt.

Lafarge is currently the contractor on site screening the gravel and trucking it out.  After the site is remediated a report will be submitted to Alberta Environment with third party results reviewed by Alberta Health.
