Airdrie Minor Hockey had all four of their Elite AA Men's Lightning teams on the ice last weekend (January 12-14) in the South Central Alberta Hockey League.

Of all the team's in action, the Midget Lightning were the busiest, playing three games in three days.

In their first game on Friday, the Lightning were shutout by Red Deer CanPro, 4-0 in a very physical affair, where the Lightning were penalized 15 times in the game.

The next day, the Lightning were able to get on the scoreboard, but not enough to beat the Red Deer Elks. Sloan Coppicus had one goal and an assist as the Lightning dropped that game 5-3.

Finally, the Lightning had a 2-0 lead on Sunday against the Central Alberta Selects, but let that slip away. Ricky Doucette and Brennen Wigenbach had a goal each, as the Lightning gave up three unanswered goals to lose 3-2.

The Peewee Lightning Red had two games over the weekend against West Central and Red Deer.

Ty Ochitwa had two goals for the Lightning on Saturday, but unfortunately, his team lost 9-2 to the West Central Tigers.

The Lightning had a bounce-back game on Sunday as they beat the Red Deer Motors 4-3. Mitchell Patrick had 2 goals while Kaleb Binner scored the game-winning goal.

Airdrie's other Peewee team, the Peewee White, had two games of their own last weekend but couldn't pull out a win.

Kane Kennedy had a strong weekend scoring two goals on Friday in a 4-2 loss to Red Deer and adding a goal and an assist on Sunday as the Lightning suffered a 12-4 defeat to the Lethbridge Hurricanes-White.

The Bantam Lightning had just one game on Saturday and fought to the bitter end against the Foothills Bisons.

Kieran Anderson and Erik Thoreson had a goal each as the Lightning settled for a 2-2 tie.

All four of the Elite Lightning teams will be back this weekend beginning Saturday (January 20th).
