Alberta Health Services has confirmed that there currently is a workplace investigation underway regarding some EMS management practices in the Calgary Zone.

The Calgary zone serves over 1.4 million people and encompasses not only the Calgary metro area but also surrounding towns and cities, including Airdrie.

AHS would not comment on the number of individuals involved or whether they have been suspended from their duties and would not elaborate on the nature of the investigation.

"This is not related to patient care or clinical work. To protect staff privacy and confidentiality, AHS cannot speak to specifics on this case," wrote James Wood, the Director of Issues Management and Media Relations with AHS.

The investigation comes on the heels of news that Alberta's deputy chief medical officers of health have resigned.
