Airdrie’s only Filipino Basketball league started their new season last Saturday (March 10th) with four teams entering the fold this year.

The league, which was previously known as Pinoy Basketball Airdrie, will now go by the name of the Airdrie Filipino Basketball League.

Fans and team members crowded the gym at Airdrie Koinonia Christian School to watch the opening matches.

In the first game, NRG Fitness and Hopelink Basketball went back and forth in a close game, eventually going to Hopelink 89-83.

Julius Forte had 28 games in the loss for NRG.

Hopelink had one more game that evening as JR Matro put up 30 points to beat Eaton 86-75.

Eaton had won their previous game that night with a 90-74 win over AJC. Four different players scored double digits for Eaton in the win.

All four teams are back in action on Saturday, March 17th with games starting at 4:00 pm
