Beginning today, Monday, April 17, the village of Beiseker will be busier than ever as film crews are planning to start shooting Wind River: The Next Chapter.

A letter sent to Beiseker from the production company has divulged details on where filming will be taking place. According to the letter, the Beiseker Medical Clinic (319 6 Street), as well as the Beiseker Post Office (304 6 Street), will be featured in some of the scenes. Shooting will begin at 7 a.m. and last till 10 p.m.

The production company said it plans to shoot two scenes inside the medical building and two more dialogue scenes outside the post office.

"We will be doing intermittent traffic and pedestrian control by the Beiseker Post Office while we are filming those exterior scenes," the letter stated.

Closures will affect 6 Street from mid-block northwest of 2 Avenue to 3 Avenue, though closures will be no longer than five minutes in duration.

The film is a sequel to the 2017 movie Wind River, a crime/drama, which starred Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) and Elizabeth Olsen (Doctor Stranger). This time around, Clint Eastwood's son (yes - you read that right) Scott Eastwood will be starring in the film, alongside the very talented Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty).

While the 2017 drama, Wind River, centred around a hunter who helped an FBI agent investigate the murder of a young woman on a Wyoming Native American reservation, the sequel follows a series of unsolved murders that will see the FBI battling to find the truth.

Castle Rock Entertainment is producing the sequel to the award-nominated original, with Emmy-nominated director, Kari Skogland heading the project.

But the suspenseful film isn't the only one being filmed in the area. Season five of Fargo was also being shot in Disdsbury, which saw the devilishly handsome Jon Hamm as part of the cast, as well as veteran actress Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Didsbury's penchant for being chosen by production companies has also spurred something more than fans cheering as they spot their hometown on-screen. Earlier this week, the Towns of Didsbury, the Town of Sundre, and Mountain View County announced the opening of Alberta's first Rural Film Office and website. The Mountain View Regional Film Office (MVRFO) is meant to attract even more film productions.

And last week the province announced that it will increase its investment in the Alberta film and television industry to a total of $335 million over three years to continue attracting the attention and investment dollars of Hollywood.

To help grow and promote local talent and productions, Alberta’s government is also doubling the funding to the Alberta Made Screen Industries Program. This funding will support local producers and attract productions from around the world to set up shops in Alberta.

The Alberta Made Production Grant supports productions with a budget of up to $499,999. Tina Alford, branch representative of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Arts (ACTRA) Alberta expressed her happiness at the continued funding.

The government said that every $1 investment in the Alberta Made Production Grant program generates an additional $4 in economic return.
