Greg Luterbach has been a busy man of late conducting interviews with candidates for principals of Rocky View Schools.

The School Superintendent appointed no less than ten new principals for RVS schools, including five for schools in the City of Airdrie.  The ten appointments have a combined 227 years of experience in education.

"I'm proud to watch these educators progress in their careers as they assume leadership roles across the jurisdiction,” Luterbach said. “These administrators each have a long history of success in RVS and have demonstrated their strong commitment to the students, staff and families in each of the schools they have served."

The five schools in Airdrie that will receive new leaders include Heloise Lorimer School, Cooper's Crossing School, Meadowbrook School, Muriel Clayton Middle School and R.J. Hawkey Elementary School.

Terry Lewis - Heloise Lorimer:

After serving as the school's acting principal for the past year, Lewis will have the term "acting" removed and become principal of Heloise Lorimer.  Lewis is well acquainted with the school's culture, having served as assistant principal since 2017.  She has a long history with RVS, serving in teacher and assistant principal roles since 2002.

Diana Logan - Cooper's Crossing:

Logan becomes a principal in RVS for the first time at Cooper's Crossing after being assistant principal at Bearspaw School since 2015.  She joined the jurisdiction in 1992 as a teacher at Springbank Middle School, later teaching at Bearspaw, Ralph McCall and Mitford.  During her time at Bearspaw, Logan initiated the "Bear in MInd" Mental Health Conference.

Denise Weaver - Meadowbrook School:

Following four years as assistant principal of Meadowbrook School, Weaver has accepted the role of principal of the school.  She joined RVS in 2004 as a teacher at Prairie Waters Elementary School, then became assistant principal at Muriel Clayton in 2012.  Weaver briefly left RVS to become principal at Menno Simons Christian School in Calgary in 2016 before returning as assistant principal at Meadowbrook in 2017.

Susan Spooner-Sellan - Muriel Clayton Middle School:

Spooner-Sellan has accepted the role of principal at Muriel Clayton, where she has been assistant principal since 2018.  A teacher since 2002, she joined RVS as a Learning Support Teacher at Prairie Waters in 2007 before moving to Rainbow Creek in 2008.  She became an assistant principal in 2013 at Herons Crossing School before taking over her current role.

Jackie Root - R.H. Hawkey Elementary School:

Root has been the assistant principal at Fireside School in Cochrane since 2017 and will move into her new post at R.J. Hawkey Elementary School this fall.  She's been an administrator in RVS since 2013, working as an acting principal, assistant principal and acting assistant principal at Cochrane Christian Academy and Fireside.  Root also taught at Cochrane Christian Academy and schools in Calgary.

The other principalships announced include Mary Magee for Springbank Middle School, Jason Hill to Rainbow Creek Elementary School in Chestermere, Colin MacDonald to Crossfield Elementary School, Jonathon Klinger for Westbrook School, and Lynette LePan-Smith to RancheView School in Cochrane.

RVS also added 12 new assistant principals to its administrative ranks, and six assistant principals will take over postings at various schools in the fall.
