It's taken some time but Habitat For Humanity has finally arrived in Airdrie with a pair of homes to be built in the Bayside community. At a ground-breaking ceremony on the morning of October 6, Linda Ray, a principal volunteer for Habitat, didn't mind braving the wind and cold.

Ray says the the families who qualify to live in the duplex home have to do their part, too, before they can move in, and that's about six months down the road.

Ray says the full extent of the effort will be felt when the families move in but called the day a huge milestone as the plan all comes together.
