Airdrie Rural RCMP is advising that the collision scene on Highway 72, just east of Range Road 280 has been cleared.

According to the RCMP, the collision was between a Dodge Caravan and a GMC Canyon.

"Initial investigation indicates that one of the vehicles crossed the center line, resulting in the head-on collision. A passenger in one of the vehicles was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries," an RCMP release stated.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the RCMP responded to the collision and for some time, traffic was unable to get through and motorists were asked to avoid the area. 

The investigation continues. No further updates are anticipated.
