The Airdrie Irish took a page from the Calgary Stampeders playbook for 2022 last night (June 25) against the Edmonton Elite.

In their first three games of the season, the Stamps have made a habit of coming back from half-time deficits to beat their opponents.  Their latest comeback was against the Edmonton Elks last night.  Calgary trailed 13 - 10 at the half only to rally to score 20 second half points to down the Elks 30 - 23.  It was the third time this year the Stamps have overcome a half-time deficit.

The Irish did the same last night in the game against the Elite in Fort Saskatchewan.  Well....kind of.  This time Airdrie battled back in the second half and came away with a 20 - 20 tie with the Elite.

The second half heroics came after Airdrie got off to a quick start in the game, taking a 10 - 0 lead.  After that it was Edmonton's turn for a comeback as they scored two touchdowns and added a field goal with less than nine minutes left in the opening half.

Despite letting their 10 point lead slip away, the Irish didn't give up, rallying in the fourth quarter and then tying the game on a last second field goal to make the final 20 - 20.

The tie improves the Irish record to two wins, one loss and a tie with just two regular season games remaining to be played.

With Canada Day coming up, the Alberta Football League is on a league-wide bye this weekend.  The Irish are back home on July 9th to host the Calgary Wolfpack.
