The Rocky View Knights are preparing for the start of what should be a tough best of five series in Provincial Senior "B" Lacrosse this weekend.

The Knights will meet the undefeated St. Albert Miners beginning tomorrow night (August 12) at the Strathcona Olympiette Centre in Strathcona County.

The Miners have gone unbeaten this season in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League and are the national defending champions, so Head Coach Gareth Barley knows his team will face a stiff test.  The first key to success for the Knights is actually having a full bench.

"We're happy we're there but I really feel we can give these guys a push, if we're healthy and we have the majority of our guys there.  Playing these guys this year, we played them with 11 runners one game, we played them with 13 and we played them with 14.  All the games were tight up 'til the third period and then I think we just lost our legs.  I think we have to just come in and play our game and I think we can give them a run for their money.  It'll be nice to play them with a full roster and that's something we haven't done all year."

Barley says the role of the underdog isn't something the Knights are used to.  "We have played these guys numerous times in the final and we have a problem being the bridesmaid in this league.  We've won twice and finished second numerous times.  I think there's a little bit of mutual respect there.  We have many guys that think we can give them a run and it's nice when it's not just the coach that thinks that, we have many players on board with that."

The second game of the series also goes in Strathcona County on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm.  The series then shifts south, but not to Airdrie.  The third, and fourth game if needed, will be played at the Max Bell Arena in Calgary because the Knights usual home at the Plainsman Arena in Airdrie was already booked.

Game three is scheduled for Friday, August 18th at 9:00 pm and if a game four is needed it will go Saturday afternoon, August 19th at 3:00 pm.

The fifth game, if required, is scheduled for Sunday, August 20th at 3:00 pm back in Strathcona County.
